Today we continued the video that we started yesterday ; Ethics The branch of philosophy that studies and evaluates human conduct. Aesthetics The branch of philosophy that studies the nature of beauty. How should I live ? Is there any reason that I should treat strangers differently than the people I love ? Logic is about reasoning giving strong arguments that don't fall victim to fallacies. Fallacy reasoning or flowed reasoning that leads to an invalid or unsound argument. Today in class we started out with our new unit Philosophy. We watched a video about it by Hank Green ; Basic Philosophy: Why do you do what you do ? Why do you think what you think ? Why do you feel what you feel ? Philos means science and Mythos means storytelling in Greek. Philosophia is the love of wisdom. Philosophy is academic study of anything. Plato's Academy is the first universities in the western world. Philosophy come to be understand more as a way of thinking about questions. What is world like? What is the nature of reality? Is the world just made up of matter and energy or is there something else going on? Do I have a soul? Metaphysics The branch of Philosophy that studies the nature of reality Epistemology The branch of Philosophy that studies the nature and scope of knowledge

Today the whole class we talk about our group project. We talk about who we are going to work with what is the idea. so I group up with my friends that I had grouped up with in the past. We have come up with the idea of a Greece map it is going to be 3D but 2D it will have 3d figures on it to show the important events. I think it is going to be a great work and I think when we combine that with the presentation, whoever looks at that can have a idea about what we did in this class so far. I think it will be a fun project.

Today in class we go over from the slide what we did past 2 classes. We read from the book and now reviewed in the slide. Not many people finished it but I finished the book so this kind of a review for me. I like the slides because it helps you with brief explanation for everything you do not need to read every boring stuff to learn and Mr. Schick makes it fun. Today we finished the side and talk about a project thing. I am exited to see what are we going to see in our next slide or whatever.

Today in class we continued doing the Democracy and Greece's Golden Age while the people who were absent on Friday was making up their test. I was past the halfway of 134-141 so It did not take much long for me to finish it. I saw things about : 404 B.C. the Athenians and their allies surrendered and the war cause athenians to question their democratic government and their values. Which lead to occur of the Philosophers. Philosophers are people who are seeking the truth and the lovers of wisdom. They were lot of Philosophers and groups: The Sophists group questioned blief and ideas about justice and other traditional values. Protogoras who questioned Greek Gods. In 399 B.C. Socrates was about 70 years old and jury penalty him to death because he thinks that his teaching were good for Athens because they forced people to think about their values. and actions. Plato He was student of Socrates, was in his 20s when his teacher died. Sometime in 370s he wrote his most famous wo...

Today we start with a test and it was pretty easy because I think I did pretty good on it. The writing part give me a struggle a little bit but it was good. then we had an reading and taking notes assignment about Democracy and Greece's Golden Age on our textbook page 134. We learned about the Statesman named Pericles led Athens during much of it's golden age. He had three goals ; to strengthen Athenian democracy, to hold and strengthen the empire and to glorify Athens. He took over the leadership of Delian league and took money from it's treasury to make Athenian navy and took another for glorifying Athens. The Parthenon was his plan. The Greeks invent 2 types of drama tragedy and comedy. Herodotus book on Persian War is considered the first work of history. Sparta declared war on Athens 431 BC Athens got the L and Pericles died from plague. Athen tried to take down Sparta's allies but did not work.

Today I did not join my last 2 mods because we had an away game which is 2 hour drive from here that is why we had to leave early. We lost it but it was fun, sports are always fun. I just came home it is 10:50pm right now. I am dead tired so I am going to sleep

Before the class start I had an conversation with Mr. Schick about the Empires that we are going to talk about in this class. I asked it because I want to know if we are going to review the Ottoman Empire because we are going every Empire around Turkey, which where I am from, but we are not talking anything about Turkey's history. In past Turkey had a great empire, Ottoman Empire. Anyways we start it out with reviewing over our ¨Ancient Greece Page ¨ look over our grades and our mistakes. Which I was pleased with mine. Then Mr. Schick ¨The Goat ¨ gave us time for review the stuff we miss or just go over everything and we will have a test on Friday. So I go over my notes, my blog and Mr Schick's blog and then I studied for my Biology test, which was after my West Civ class. Today was a fast and fun day.

Today in class we finished Spartan slides and ı learned new terms about Spartan army then we get into the Persians and their wars. I know a bit about Persians because Persian Empire was where I was born and my name comes form Persian name. Greek vs Persian was the war that we started. It wasn't a fair war at all because Persians were so huge and better at resources compared to Greece. We review their armies and compared them that was where we left off.

Today while we starting the class we learned that Mr. Schick wasn't going to come normally then he did not have a good sleep so he failed sending the message to Mr. Arrington so he ends up come into to the school sick. He said that we need to read through 127 to 133 about Warring City-States. Start of the chapter was kind of a review of Greek Political Structures. I go over some new subjects which includes Athenian Education, Sparta, Sparta's Government and Society, Spartans Daily Life and end it up with the Persian Wars, Battle of Marathon. The book did better then I thought in terms of giving useful information. I did not thought that it will be like the slide and Mr. Schick but it did around the same job so I was happy with today's note it was a good short day.

today in class we talk about the snow day that might come tommorrow so it leads us the conversation of cyber days which is a day that teachers supposed to give us 45 minute work. Then we head into class we finish the government part of the ancient Greece by Direct Democracy then we get into the new part the Gods of Greece which brought the exiting parts. I have a little knowledge about Gods because I watch a movie about it. Then we get into spartans which is the fearless tough fighters. It was good solid class day.

Today in class we my seat was moved into middle and I am still in the front so I like my new seat lot better than the old one because it was to hard to see it from the side. Anyways today we continued our ¨Ancient Greece¨ page and I think mine was short but enough compared to others I wrote about Ancient Greece culture. I wrote about their influences to the whole world and which parts they helped us at for example math, science, astronomy, art, drama, sculpture and architecture. Then the bell ring and every one was so happy relaxed for the weekend

Today in class we start with our every time prayer then head into our pop quiz results and mine was not good. We solved the problem over then talk about the answers. Then he gave us some kind of a group project to boost our grades and make 5 groups of 5. We work on that today and he will give us time tomorrow to so I think I will get my grade up hopefully and get into the honors this time. I don'T have any idea why did I get low on that quiz I been taking so many notes and go over them by writing it here of course I'm not writing all of them but still. Anyways I will get good on the next!
